BCMS LogoDear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

The Bulldog community is excited to welcome Mr. Timothy Sanders as the new principal of Bell Creek Middle School. The School Board appointed Mr. Sanders during its meeting last night. He will begin his new role as BCMS principal on January 10, 2022.

Mr. Sanders currently serves as an assistant principal at Douglas Freeman High School in Henrico County, a position he’s held since 2016. He previously served as a collaborative teacher at Glen Allen High School. Mr. Sanders is no stranger to the Mechanicsville community, beginning his career in education as a special education teacher at what is now Mechanicsville High School.

During his time as a teacher next door to the school he now leads, Mr. Sanders helped create an afterschool program, Lee-Davis Devotions, which encouraged socialization and transition preparation for success after high school among general education and students with autism. The James Madison University alumnus was named the New Teacher of the Year in 2010.

Mr. Sanders is a resident of Hanover County and lives in Mechanicsville. When he’s not in school, Mr. Sanders can be found hiking with his kids, coaching baseball, going to the gym, reading, or engaging in his passion for music.

Thank you for helping us welcome Mr. Sanders to the BCMS community and wishing Dr. Ballard the best in his new role with the Virginia Department of Education.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert Staley
Director of Secondary Education
